Get ready for the latest series of updates to VisualScript to blow you away!
We made it signicantly easier to administer, create, and access reports and so much more.
Here are just some of the highlights:
- Browse all reports and run any report from an improved interface
- Enjoy a clearer separation between administrators who create reports and users who view them
- Organize reports into folders
- Export and import individual reports or groups of reports
- A more powerful way to create intuitive reports with improved user parameter input settings
- Ability to drill-down to expanded view of reports inside reports
- New gauge type reports
Improved Reporting Interface
We completely overhauled the VisualScript UI to make it easier to access reports. You can now
see all the reports available in your space using a familiar file browser interface. Choose a report, specify parameters if applicable, and get the insights you need faster. Want to use the report elsewhere? Export it as an image file in just a few clicks.
Revamped Interface for Administrators
We moved creating and organizing reports to the admin section of VisualScript for a clearer separation between team members who will consume reports and administrators who will create and maintain them. In the admin view, you'll be able to modify existing reports, create new reports, and import and export reports as needed.
Improved Organization with Folders
Admins can now organize reports into folders and move reports quickly with drag-and-drop.
Import and Export Reports
For system integrators who need to share reports with clients, we made it easy to export all the source code for any report or group of reports. You can export an entire folder in just one click.
In turn, admins can easily import reports someone shares with them.
Improved Report Creation
We improved the ability to create reports with custom paramaters. When you create a report, you may want to allow users to specify
values to key parameters to pull data specific to their request.
This might be the name of a project selected from a drop-down list, a date range, or a boolean.
In the admin interface of VisualScript, you can specify these parameters, set their type, provide a description for the user, and even choose a default value.
The ability to specify the type of input will reduce user errors when interacting with your reports. If you expect true or false or a numerical value, it will be important to limit inputs to what your report needs.
Drill-Down with Expanded Views
You can add a whole new report to any part of an existing report by linking it to an existing shape, event, task, or cell.
Calling a new report using the Expanded View method will make the image of that report appear as a tool-tip when clicked on.
This would be a great way to see an overall program velocity broken up into individual team velocity reports or an issue dependency connected to a larger PI planning board.
Gauges are a great way to enhance any report that focuses on a numerical value. You can now add a number of professionally-styled gauges to your reports.
Check out the new VisualScript and stay tuned for other updates coming soon!
