Aireon Using Custom Real-Time Reports in Jira to Work Smarter and Faster as a Team

VisualScript allowed Aireon to save time, avoid manual reporting, and be able to see the status of projects at a glance, in real-time, all in their preferred single-source of truth, Jira.

Background

Aireon has revolutionized the global aviation industry by deploying a satellite-based system, able to track and monitor ADS-B equipped aircraft anywhere on the planet in real time.

To manage their complex systems and teams, they use multiple software applications, including Atlassian's Jira for project management.

Challenge

Aireon had a manual reporting process in place. To create reports for status updates, they took data from Jira manually and placed it in Powerpoint for communication purposes. This was a time-consuming process since Aireon has strict processes and procedures for handling documents, this was not the optimal way to share information. They wanted reporting to be based on real-time data in a single system, preferably inside Jira. This new reporting solution would create a single source of truth in the system of record.

Solution

The VisualScript team worked directly with Aireon to develop a custom solution that uses the data in Jira and generates the needed reports directly on a Jira dashboard. They needed reports to help them see the status of projects in real time.

Project status report

The Sales Timeline is generated based on custom fields to show what phase or stage each customer is in at a glance.

Sales timeline report

The Implementation Timeline shows the color-coded tasks laid out in chronological order to let stakeholders see at a glance when each type of task is set to be completed.
